The persona Bradley is based heavily off of the actual team coach / leader. During the exit interview, he explained his frustrations with hearing back from his teammates in regards to whether or not they were going to come to the games. The scenario is based loosely off of the background information we learned from his intro interview, where he stated that he does not drive, and therefore gets rides every week from his teammates. When we asked how he keeps track of who is going to be at each game, he whipped out his iPhone and showed us a little notepad with players names on it. He then said he doesn’t always remember every person who has said yes or no, so he is truly never able to plan a practice routine and game rosters beforehand as he’s not too sure of the participants.

With our probes, we learned that the players on the team engage in sporting events outside of their soccer team quite frequently. They also have busy lifestyles that sometimes result in soccer not being something that they can attend all of the time. One of our cultural probe kits revealed that one player did not have any time to play sports that week, which is good indication of the wealth of time spent doing other things. While the players are heavily engaged in the sport, most of their lives do not revolve around it. Since this is the case, they do need refreshers as to when their games are, and who else is going so they can arrange carpooling and the likes. This is evident from our second persona Sherry, who acts in accordance with the data we received from members of the soccer team. Both Bradley and Sherry together stand as the two opposing sides of communication between team leader and team member.

Since the games fall on weekend nights, and the cultural probe revealed a heavy love for the drinking of alcoholic beverages as it was the most favorable pastime indicating by our probe results, the need for carpooling is quite high. The players frequently engage in post-game beers in the pub that is located at the sports complex they play at, as well as watching local sports games together.
